Food has always been a part of Joanne and Leslie's life. Being an ocean away from Malaysia, Joanne turned to recreating childhood snacks to bring a little piece of home with her to Canada. Growing up, Leslie had always liked trying the new recipes that Joanne crafted. This became a tradition for the mother daughter duo.
Fast forward to 2019. Having received requests from Leslie's friends to order Joanne's snacks, Leslie decided to combine her passion for entrepreneurship and food to found AIYA! Snacks with Joanne. Starting out at Western University's W5 accelerator, AIYA! has evolved from a simple childhood tradition into a brand committed to fresh and natural ingredients, with an emphasis on sustainable business practices.
